Museum Sisa Hartaku

Step inside the museum, which tells the story of Mount Merapi's catastrophic eruption in 2010.
The name "Sisa Hartaku" means "what's left of me." Here, you'll find everyday household items, motorcycles, furniture, and even kitchenware, all scorched by hot volcanic ash and lava, left in pristine condition.
This museum isn't just a collection of artifacts. It tells the stories of the local villagers who lost their homes and families to the eruption. The preserved relics offer visitors a moving glimpse into the community's resilience, making this site both educational and emotionally impactful.

Batu Alien / Stonehenge / The Lost World Park

During this section of the tour, you will only visit one of the following locations (please select in advance):
Batu Alien, a massive volcanic rock that was blown away during the 2010 eruption, is known for its unique shape resembling a human face. It offers dramatic photo opportunities with Mount Merapi in the background.
Stonehenge Merapi is a replica of England's Stonehenge, made from volcanic rock. It's a popular outdoor park offering creative photo opportunities with the Merapi landscape as a backdrop.
The Lost World Park is a photo park and observation deck built on land destroyed by the eruption. It is a popular photo spot featuring castle-like structures and beautiful backdrops.
Bunker Kaliadem

Built in the 1990s, the Kaliadem Bunker is an underground shelter designed to protect local residents and observers from Mount Merapi's deadly ash clouds. Located approximately 4 kilometers from the summit, it offers one of the closest access points to the volcano.
During the 2006 eruption, two volunteers tragically lost their lives in a bunker, as intense heat and pyroclastic flows engulfed their shelter. Today, this site stands as a historical monument and a reminder of Merapi's unstoppable power.
Visitors can enter the bunker's narrow concrete space to see how people once sought refuge, then step outside to enjoy panoramic views of Mount Merapi and the surrounding valley. The contrast between the peaceful landscape and its tragic history makes this one of the most powerful experiences on the tour.
Kali Opak

Kali Opak is a river formed by the flow of volcanic material during the eruption of Mount Merapi. Today, it serves as both a natural boundary and a vivid testament to the mountain's destructive power. Visitors can see the lava etched into the riverbed and enjoy dramatic views of Mount Merapi from a different perspective.
This place offers a chance to pause and admire how nature has reshaped this land, transforming a site of destruction into a striking landscape. It's also a popular photo spot, capturing the raw beauty of Merapi.
Kali Kuning

Prepare for an exhilarating adventure along the Kali Kuning Stream, with its cool, clear waters flowing from Mount Merapi. This short trek takes you through a natural landscape shaped by volcanic activity, offering opportunities to splash around, wade through shallow streams, and enjoy the lush greenery surrounding you.
The trek is easy and fun, making it suitable for all ages. It's a great way to cool off after a dusty jeep ride and to experience Merapi's landscapes in a more interactive way! If you plan to enjoy the water, don't forget to pack sandals or shoes that can get wet, and a change of clothes!
Lunch at The Waroeng of Raminten

Your lava tour concludes with a jeep ride back to base camp. Take some time to relax, shake off the volcanic dust, and reflect on your unforgettable journey across the Merapi eruption zone. Afterward, enjoy a hearty Indonesian lunch at a local restaurant—the perfect way to recharge after a morning of adventure.
After lunch, your tour will conclude with your driver dropping you off at your hotel, airport, or train station for your next adventure.
